Excellent discussion Prophet Pearls! NASV has the reference about Elijah as “he saw” but in the body of the scripture it states, “he was afraid”. Thank you for making this clear in the Hebrew, Nehemiah.

You were asking for comment or feed back on the question that Elijah asked or stated to himself, namely, “Lord, let me die.” Thank you Nehemiah for sharing your heart, your thoughts.
Elijah is a prophet of YehoVah so I evaluate his actions as a strong man of God who called the heathen prophets to sacrifice to their gods; he set up an altar and sacrificed to YehoVah and the offering was accepted. He then calls the people of YehoVah to detain the prophets of Baal which is followed by their immediate death- 400 to 850 prophets of Baal and prophets of Ashterah were slain. A bloody scene. Yes, a tremendous victory, but then he hears that his life will be like one of the prophets of Baal. That is reality. He is exhausted physically and mentally and now Jezebel wants to kill him also.

YehoVah calls Elijah to His mountain. He didn’t run there because he was frightened. Elijah is given his final assignments, which he completes, and then he is taken by YehoVah.
    Great study.

Yhovah said “I have reserved 7000 who have not bowed the knee to baal.” This gives me chills every time I read this. Elijah thought he was the only one, but Yahovah
Told Elijah what God himself saw, “I have reserved” he, the Almighty, had set aside 7000 for himself.
And later the kings fighting against Isreal were defeated by just a few thousand solders from isreal they recognized that it was God in the mountains who defeated them, so the next year they came back in the valleys thinking surely we can defeat Isreal there, well they got learned there as well. The Yahwah who rules in the mountains is also the God who reigns in the valleys.

I find it interesting that the prophet Ahijah pronounces a curse on the House of Jeroboam but in verse 13 of chapter 14 it says, “for he (the sick child) alone of Jeroboam’s family will come to the grave, because in him something good was found toward the LORD God of Israel in the House of Jeroboam.”
Because in him something good was found toward Jehovah!

This is an important time in the nation of Israel. The kingdom is divided and Jeroboam takes ten tribes. In his arrogance he builds unauthorized altars, places a golden calf image at each and made priests of those who were not sons of Levi. He then instituted an alternative feast in the fall, the eighth Biblical month.

Now this “Man of God” is deceived by a lying old prophet! The theme is clear-not following Jehovah’s commandments.

Just completed a marathon video watching “Open Door Series” on Nehemia’s Wall. The last video, 16th session, specifically your call and Shofar blast were amazing.
I found this and your Beginner Hebrew lessons and want to jump in with this class. If there are specific guidelines for the type of questions you want us to ask then please advise. Shalom!

      Welcome, Silvia!

I haven’t been posting much but it’s wonderful to “see” a new face in our group. I’ve perused some of your other posts and enjoyed them. I’ll have to make the time to sit down and really read them.

I am absolutely addicted to the Open Door series as well as the Time Will Tell and Now is the Time series. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve watched them. Amazing information right there.

      Once again, welcome!!
