The 430 Year Question
What are the numbers of the 430 year prophecy?
There are questions by many of just how long Israel stayed in Egypt. Some say 400 or 430 others about 215. Faced with that question I opened the book and an Excel spreadsheet and started jotting down ages of all the names involved from the very first year.
Abraham’s birth is pegged at the year 1948 FC (from creation)
The covenant was made when Abraham was about 75 – [2022 FC]
Isaac was born when Abraham was 100 – [2047 FC]
Jacob was born in [2108 FC]
Levi was born in [2192 FC]
Kohath was born in [2214 FC]
Amram [2243 FC]
Miriam [2337 FC] Aaron [2339 FC] Moshe [2342 FC]
In 2022 is the start of the 430 year count
Levi is of the first generation that goes into Egypt and is at the 171st year mark
Kohath is of the second Generation at the 193rd year
Amram is of the third generation at 222nd year
Miriam, Aharon, Moses are the fourth. Moses is born at the 321st year of the prophecy
Moses is 80 when he leads Israel out of Egypt in 2423 FC marking the 400th year from the birth of Isaac
Moses dies in 2463 FC at the age of 120 and is buried on Mt. Nebo… Israel crosses over the Jordan lead by Joshua… and is around the year 1539 BC
Some of these dates I had to work backward because no beginning date was given, such as the birth of Amram’s children.

The math starts with the day YHVH gave the promise to Avraham. We know they were not in Egypt for 430 years because Moshe and Aharon’s mother was a literal daughter of Levi. She married Amram, her brother, Kohath’s son. According to Genesis 46, Kohath came into Egypt as part of the 70. It would appear that Jochebed was born in Egypt, some believe in the later years of Levi’s life. Never the less, the math would not allow for her to be their mother if she was Levi’s daughter and the were in captivity for 400 plus years.
You have to take in the time from the promise, add the life of Yitzchak, then add the life of Israel before and after coming into Egpyt, their years in Egypt and then the years they wandered, that would equal the 430 years.
