The Second Matter- “My Face”
Exodus 20:3

In part 2 of Ten Matters That Still Matter to God we look at what the Almighty means when he says, “You shall have no other gods before my face.” Because of the use of the plural form elohim (“gods”) in this verse, some have concluded that God is in some way plural. But how does such a notion line up with the scriptural witness that there is one—and only one—God? Fortunately, this problem can be solved through understanding Hebrew grammar, without the need to resort to manmade theology.

Hi Keith
Loving this study. I only had one comment. In the video and in my bible it has Lo (with a Lomed Alef) and in the study notes it has Lo (with a Alef Lomed) switched around. Just wanted to let you know. Thank you for the wonderful teaching.

What a wonderful explanation of You shall not have other gods upon my face! I’ve never heard it explained this way. Thank you so much!

Thank you for going over the second commandment, this is something I’ve wanted to hear the Hebrew perspective/grammar on for over a year! I would be interested to hear more on the translation of the second part of the second matter– more detail about graven images. From my understanding, these things are not as simple to discern as one might believe. I recall Nehemiah talking in one of his podcasts about this. Again, I’ve appreciate the work you are doing!

I enjoy your teaching and the interaction with Nehemiah. This helps me to gain understanding, context, and perspective. This helps me as an elder to share the Word with others and even helps with how I share the Word.
Thank you very much for your diligence and obedience to God.

Keith I loved this! You hit a home run here. I did a share on FB , but don’t know if you will see it. When you explain how the translators interpreted each use of a word, things get clearer, do they not? My thanks to you and Nehemia for Canby! I finally met you both. Please check out David Barton about George Washington and the Masons. I don’t believe that George was one of the inner circle and he may have only been to 6 meetings. Shalom, Keith!
After listening to the first two “Scripture Bytes”, I have to tell you that I absolutely love them! You present a small amount of very significant information that the average person trying to learn can handle. I appreciate having the pdf guide for reference during and/or after listening to the video. And the Scripture Bytes assistant is just too much fun, and helps keep the learner’s attention. I am a professional tutor, so I know how to find fault with the ways items to be learned are presented, but to you I say, “Way to go, Keith!”

Keith,
I really appreciate what you are doing here and thank you for the effort.
I was about to give up on listening to the Torah Pearls as there seemed to be a lot of frivolous giggling and talk but this has changed my outlook totally. I don’t want to be harsh about it, but my love for the Torah and for you and Nehemiah was holding me there but it was sometimes very hard to listen to. This is quite different…this is concentrated, factual, relevant, lots of scripture, Hebrew based teaching….its wonderful and I appreciate it so much.
Thank you,
