Achrei Mot
Leviticus 16:1-18:30

In this episode we center in on the Day of Atonement and discuss the two goats and what they represent. Listen in as Nehemia recounts the miracle of the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Also, Keith tells of his recent adventures beneath and upon the Temple Mount, plus a bonus story about his meeting with the Pope!

“And Aaron shall cast lots over the two goats, one for the LORD [Yehovah] and the other lot for Azazel”(Lev. 16:8 [ESV]). [ESV footnote] “The meaning of’ Azazel’ is uncertain; possibly the name of a place or a demon [?], traditionally a scapegoat…” My ESV Bible seems to want to open up the possibility that Azazel is Satan (that doesn’t make any sense).
One other thing I’d like to comment on is Nehemia’s challenge on us non-Torah observant Christians [yes, I’m one of them, but that may change] on the application of the Torah. Keith made a good point that yes, many of us don’t read the Torah, but one other thing I’d add in is confusion. A lot of us are confused with Paul (so am I). What’s keeping us from observing the Torah is because of the way we interpret Paul. One thing I’m noticing is that on regards to Paul is that Paul SEEMS to be saying the Torah is “nailed to the cross,” but I’m beginning to question that interpretation. In Acts 21 it seems to be saying that Paul took a Nazarite vow to prove that he doesn’t teach that the Torah is done way with. I think(know ) that it’s confusion that’s a hindrance for the average Christian in the application of Torah. Open up my eyes Yehovah!
